The American Analog Set - The Fun of Watching Fireworks

These guys sure know how to chill pretty hard.

Fans of Yo La Tengo should definitely give this a look.

Witchrist - Beheaded Ouroboros

Some crushing blackened death from NZ. They definitely have a similar style to fellow county-men Diocletian, though for some reason many looked past this album when both bands dropped new releases late last year.

Angelcorpse - The Inexorable

Particularly brutal blackened death with absolutely relentless drumming.

If that doesn't sound tantalising then idk, go play on some swings, pussy.

Boris - Heavy Rocks

you know the drill

sludgy tunes + rocky japanese vox + energetic drumming and rifzzfs = boris on this album = AWESOME
(and they're happy to give you a good, slow, pummeling sludge song or two to boot)

KEN mode - Mennonite

What we got here, see, is a nice solid slab of sludgy noisy metal

kind of a shitty band name but

Gridlink - Amber Gray

Gridlink kind of continued where Discordance Axis left off, with two members forming the band, though don't expect the same heights of greatness.

This doesn't feature the same kind of experimentation and quirks of DA, but what it does, it does well.

Amber Gray

Infester - To the Depths... In Degradation

A slab of filth.

And Satan.

Loomer - Ceiling

Australian shoegaze/noise rock that slipped underneath a lot of people's radars, and deserves some more attention.

Really good stuff. Almost sounds like a combination of MBV's Loveless and Isn't Anything. Darker than both though.

Del tha Funkee Homosapien - Both Sides of the Brain

Best know for his work with Deltron 3030 and his appearance in the hit Gorillaz single "Clint Eastwood", it's unfortunate that Del's solo stuff still goes relatively unnoticed.

This is really the peak of his solo work, and it's some damn good stuff, along with all his 90's albums.

Jaylib - Champion Sound

Sometimes the parts are indeed greater than the whole, but with a collaboration like this, it's hard for it to reach the heights you would expect.

Nonetheless, quality tunes from J Dilla and Madlib as usual.

Brighter Death Now - Innerwar

One man project by Lille Roger, creating absolutely terrifying noise. Harsh soundscapes with strange samples and walls of cold dissonance. Music to lose your sanity to.

Archers of Loaf - Icky Mettle

One of the lesser heralded indie rock records of the 90s, but absolutely essential. You'll never know how catchy fuzz can be until you hear this.

Plus they're called Archers of Loaf.

Fuckyeah.
