The Men - Leave Home

Holy shoegazing punx hardcore just got interesting. I really hope more hardcore bands take a leaf out of The Men's book in the future because it really is a breath of fresh air to see them try something a little different. This is rad. That's the word that comes to mind. Rad. People should use that word more often without trying to be ironic. Leave Home seems like a logical progression from their noisier previous release Immaculada, seeing the band focusing more on the less conventional parts of their sound and with great success. I think it's way more punx to play whatever the fuck you want as opposed to the same rehashed hardcore everybody else has been playing for years. The Men are more punx than you. All of you. Deal with it.

Loomer - Ceiling

Australian shoegaze/noise rock that slipped underneath a lot of people's radars, and deserves some more attention.

Really good stuff. Almost sounds like a combination of MBV's Loveless and Isn't Anything. Darker than both though.

If you like the sound of gentle, dry guitars culminating in beautiful yellow clouds of reverberated dissonance and cryptic, psych pop, then I recommend this album.

Crocodiles - Sleep Forever

Sweet, fun, and eerie, Crocodiles create some noisy pop tunes that are truly blissful. Kinda reminds me of A Place To Bury Strangers, only less abrasive. I could even make the case that "Girl In Black" is one of the best songs of 2010. Check it out.

Overlooked gem of the year right here.

The Men are a trio from Brooklyn, kicking out some noisy post-punk jams. With shoegazing walls of sound smothering you, and a harsh punky aesthetic, it's got all you need to get noisy.

Women - Public Strain

Women, an all male noisy indie band, are about to release their new album Public Strain on Jagjaguwar. Though of course, due to the wonderful world wide web, you can get it right now. 

And you should, because it's damn good. Wouldn't post it otherwise.

Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You

I've heard some impenetrable, weird, fucking insane shit in my days, but this just takes the fucking cake. My goodness. Combing raw, dense indie noise-cum-wtf-shit-rock and the most meloncholic, penetrating, deeply infecting vocals and lyrics, Unwound's Leaves Turn Inside You is just unfuckingreal. I don't even know if I like it, it's just ridiculous.
