I've been listening to very little other than this album recently and I can't quite pinpoint what about this I find so enthralling. There's just something here that keeps me coming back for more of this gloomy, lo-fi, folky, ambient, inane genre tag, so and so forth piece of awesome. It's the solo project of one Dan Barrett of Have A Nice Life fame, who are without a doubt one of my favourite bands, so this was always going to be brilliant. It comes highly recommended regardless, provided you're not averse to a rather melancholic, depressing 56 minutes ahead of you.

Brendan Perry - Eye of the Hunter

Brendan Perry is the male half of brilliant Australian gothic/neoclassical/post punk act Dead Can Dance. His solo music definitely carries some of the aesthetic traits of his work with DCD but it's far more sparse instrumentally. I like to think of it as a combination of dream pop and folk. Whatever this sonic amalgamation's identity, it's mind-bendingly beautiful. His voice suits the acoustic guitar and occasional flourishes of string incredibly well, and his lyrics are affecting. People who like Trespassers William and The Cure should definitely be interested in this guy's work.

Just tried sleeping a bit but rain keeps fucking hitting the roof and the roof is made of tin so it makes a monumental racket and I'm all FUCKOFF RAIN and it's all NO in the form of continuous noise.
