Murder By Death - Who Will Survive and What Will Be Left of Them?

Crazy and infectious indie that combines a rockin' ballroom piano, amazing violin, and conceptual lyrics about Satan destroying an old Western town. This shit is awesome on first listen.

William Bonney - Fall Demo

Perhaps some of you may or may not recall the Midwest Emo band Merchant Ships? For about a week they were signed to Count Your Lucky Stars, however they broke up before being able to make new contributions to the label of Empire! Empire!(I Was A Lonely Estate). However vocalist Jack Senf and bassist/now guitarist Michael Gerstein formed a new band entitled William Bonney.

Jack describes this new project as "sad DIY punk" and indeed there are darker vibes and skrams all around. Sounding like a mix of their old bands and the lo-fi guitaring of Kidcrash, Fall Demo doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel. However it's a kickass release and I encourage you to download it and see the band live if they tour near you.

Downfall of Gaia - Epos

Dark and crusty hardcore from the Deutschland - a place thats seems to be producing plenty of bands in the style in recent years.

Anyways, here we have the new LP from Downfall of Gaia for your listening pleasure. Enjoy.

Or else.

How To Dress Well - Love Remains

This shit needs to be heard to be believed. Anyone who was a fan of Burial's 2007 ghostly masterpiece Untrue will find plenty to love here, and even if you don't know who Burial is, it's hard not to succumb to the amazing original music on display here. Best album of 2010? Maybe, and I've only had it for 7 hours.

Crocodiles - Sleep Forever

Sweet, fun, and eerie, Crocodiles create some noisy pop tunes that are truly blissful. Kinda reminds me of A Place To Bury Strangers, only less abrasive. I could even make the case that "Girl In Black" is one of the best songs of 2010. Check it out.

Jeru The Damaja - The Sun Rises In The East

This startlingly good release contributed to the revival of east coast hip-hop circa mid 1990s, along with the Wu-Tang Clan's Enter The Wu-Tang and Nas' Illmatic.
Jeru's lyrics paint a vivid picture of life in New York at the time, and are enhanced by stellar beats courtesy of the great DJ Premier. No release has had such an apt title except for perhaps Refused's post-hardcore opus The Shape Of Punk To Come.

If you are a fan of east coast hip hop such as Nas or GZA then look no further than this.

Autopsy - The Tomb Within

fuck yeah

Deerhunter- Halcyon Digest

Deerhunter once again release another album of alienated atmosphere and nostalgic pop motifs, this time delving more into regression than any other of their previous albums. Halcyon Digest features much classic rock and is their most straightforward record yet and while it doesn't spend too much time drowning itself in atmospherics, Deerhunter's new LP has a fuzzy, timeless sound to it that enhances Bradford Cox's obscured croon. This album will appeal to fans of art rockers No Age and classic dream pop bands in the vein of Stereolab. Nice.

So you like hip hop?

Yeah sure, I guess.

What about shoegaze, or noise?

... well what about putting them together?

Imagine if cLOUDDEAD was darker, noisier, and actually enjoyable to listen to. Imagine if the experimental production was more like "fuck that's cool" and less like "fuck that's weird". Then imagine this band citing Aaron Turner projects and My Bloody Valentine as major influences, and touring with Isis.

This is dälek.

Devics - My Beautiful Sinking Ship

You know sometimes when you walk into a bar at night in a big city and there's not a lot of people but there's an unknown band playing sexy, sultry dreamy pop playing under blue stagelights and you're sitting at the bar looking at the beautiful female lead singer through a fog of cigarette smoke and her voice immediately makes you fall in love with her? Devics is that band.

Incantation - Onward to Golgotha

Because we all need a little bit more death metal in our lives.

Get crushed.

Chalk Talk - Killing Spree

old news for old people. This little ep came out in late 2009 and it's pretty irrelevant as far as music listening goes, but fuck is it fun.

Alright so I posted that because I couldn't find the album artwork, but look at those fucking dudes. When listening to these dudes sing off tuned to really simple hardcore songs, with a surprising yet noticeable surf tint, you feel comforted with a sort of relatability in the vein of Titus Andronicus(the distinction being that Titus Andronicus is actually self-aware about this sort of shit and sing about it with this springsteen-esque boldness, thus making them not losers). That's right....this is loser music for losers and it's awesome. Not exactly inventive or even the most exciting music, but it brings me back and brings a smile, so click the link down there.

Thou - Peasant

so fucking good ahhhhhhhhh. Thick, disgusting sludge metal that'll kick your ass so hard that you will eventually not want it to kick your ass anymore.

Fuck Snakes

So I woke up like any other day, went outside on ma nigga stoop to smoke a Newport, and there it was: a fucking snake completely vertical coming out of the steps to my right. I peed my pants and then pooped my pants and peed my pants and then pooped my pants and then I went inside and pooped my pants. I hate snakes.

This is what it looked like:

I looked it up and it's called an Eastern Garter snake, completely nonvenomous but still, fuck that asshole.

Gonna go punch him in the face while listening to some awesome black metal, courtesy of Von.

Von - Satanic Blood Angel

p.s. i'm back

in case you didn't notice

here are some pokemon

and here is some math rock from this year

Enemies - We've Been Talking

P-p-p-p-punch are a hardcore band from somewhere who have a real life girl vocalist (for real real, she's not bad looking either although she's probably a dyke, she looks like one a little, just saying don't hurt me or anything I would still punch it if I could and by punch it I mean hit it and I don't mean with my fist that's all I'm saying, okay). They sort of bring the kittenviolence with the screaming vocals and the guitars and insert another bad pun about how it'll *punch* you in the nuts or whatever here.

Punch - Push Pull

Noisy Men and Women

The Men - Immaculada

Overlooked gem of the year right here.

The Men are a trio from Brooklyn, kicking out some noisy post-punk jams. With shoegazing walls of sound smothering you, and a harsh punky aesthetic, it's got all you need to get noisy.

Women, an all male noisy indie band, are about to release their new album Public Strain on Jagjaguwar. Though of course, due to the wonderful world wide web, you can get it right now.

And you should, because it's damn good. Wouldn't post it otherwise.

Acres. - Silos

I have loved this album forever.

Acres. are a relatively unknown emo band from New Jersey and the obscurity of the cover of their release Silos reflects on the band themselves. In the words of fellow contributor Sam, this EP is full of "nice, summer-ish" emo tunes, laced with lovely kinsella-esque melodies and shouted, angsty vocals. I've pretty much been hyping this since its release last February and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is one of the most clarified, hard-hitting emo albums since last year's What It Takes To Move Forward by Empire! Empire!(I Was A Lonely Estate). At first listen it's nothing new, as emo apologist SlightlyEpic may tell you, but the record is full of genuine emotion and is devoid of pretense. Check it out.

Nujabes - Metaphorical Music

50% jazz
50% hip-hop
100% awesome

I Introduce.....Myself

Hope that didn't show up too big. Hai guys I'm stephen and qwe asked me to join looser than loose and I was like "Fuck Yeah!" and now I'm gonna post album links and you motherfuckers are gonna listen to them, mmkay?

Coffinworm - When All Became None

Sup everybody.

Coffinworm are a five-piece from Indiana, who just so happen to have released one of the best albums this year, through the mighty Profound Lore.

They channel all things filthy into When All Became None, using dense riffs and lacerating vocals, creating some blackened-sludgy-doom awesomeness.

Don't even know why I need to say anything more, just get it.

When All Became None

Combatwoundedveteran - This is Not an Erect, All-Red Neon Body

A compilation of this wonderful grind/spazz/powerviolence band's best work, in all of its glorious rage. Also welcome Eddie, glad to have you with us.

Meet Eddie

Got a new contributor. He's gonna post some stuff and you're going to listen to it. That's how it's going to work.

mother fucker.

Pantheist - Journey Through Lands Unknown

Awesome, dark funeral doom from Belgium.

Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You

I've heard some impenetrable, weird, fucking insane shit in my days, but this just takes the fucking cake. My goodness. Combing raw, dense indie noise-cum-wtf-shit-rock and the most meloncholic, penetrating, deeply infecting vocals and lyrics, Unwound's Leaves Turn Inside You is just unfuckingreal. I don't even know if I like it, it's just ridiculous.
