The Endless Blockade - Primitive

Noisy powerviolent destruction from the crazy Canadians in The Endless Blockade.

Harsh, crushing, whatever, just fucking listen.

Bone Awl - Meaningless Leaning Mess

Raw crusty bm that lacerates the ears yet is still undeniably catchy. Great stuff.

Meaningless Leaning Mess

Wavelets

Wavelets are a Floridian band with their hearts in the mid-west. Very catchy emo with all the twinkly-ness you would expect from mid-west worship, along with stupid song titles which seem like in-jokes or something of the sort. If you're a fan of the style, this is well worth a look.

Conveniently, the guys in the band are so generous as to post all of their material for free download here.

So no excuses.

Total Abuse - Mutt

Very noisy release from Total Abuse, one of the seemingly cool-to-hate hardcore bands at the moment from that scene.

This is every bit the mongrel that the title suggests.

Gonjasufi - A Sufi and a Killer

An incredibly diverse release from Gonjasufi on Warp Records, featuring Gaslamp Killer on production duties (and also FlyLo on a couple of tracks).

Psychedelic, lo-fi, electronica, hip-hop, soul... the tags are endless, all (kind of) coming together into a stoned haze of gritty vocals and eclectic production.

Kosheen - Resist

Trip Hop-cum-Drum n Bass group from the undisputed home of the genre: Bristol.

Music rules extremely hard like most trip hop, and the way drum and bass is added to the flavour makes for a very interesting listen.

Tricky - Maxinquaye+a bonus

One of the biggest names in trip-hop and father of probably the best trip hop album ever (or second best, depending on how you feel about Massive Attack's Mezzanine.) Tricky's smoky voice projects his amalgam of rapping and singing over a layer of dark, opressive and beautiful electronic sounds. Among others, Tricky samples Isaac Hayes (the same sample can be heard on Portishead's song "Glory Box"), the Smashing Pumpkins, Michael Jackson and Marvin Gaye. They all work, too. Obviously. It's too bad he had to start with this album, really, because he's never going to do anything that surpasses it.

Trust me on this one: you NEED this album. It will make your life better.

Also, have his latest one, Mixed Race, as well. It rules too.
